Emigration offices will issue personal documents including birth certificates, identity cards, nationality certificates and passports in all ten states of South Sudan.
Director of Nationality, Passport and Emigration Augustino Maduot told Bakhita Radio that staff at emigration are receiving the necessary training to be able to carry out their duties professionally in Juba and other states.He explained that all the ten states will have offices to issue birth and nationality certificates, identity cards and passports.
Mr. Maduot said an individual has to fill a form to apply for a certificate of nationality and community leaders or elders have to confirm that the applicant is a South Sudanese.
In case of doubt the nationality authority could proceed to the village chief, borma and payam administration for detailed information about the applicant.
After receiving the nationality certificate a citizen can apply for the national identity card or passport.
Mr. Maduot said the national Interior Ministry is making efforts to prepare staff and open offices at state level to decentralise the identity archives from Juba.
