Yei prisons are overcrowded with citizens who did not keep the Christmas curfew imposed by the security officers in the county to control violence.

One of the released inmates told Radio Easter this morning that he and his colleagues who are still inside the prison were arrested for moving on the streets at late hours on Christmas night.

He added that others were jailed due to fighting in gathering places.

One youth was arrested after he harmed one young man’s eye on Sunday evening.

He said people were warned by one security officer to stop moving in the streets right from 6:00 PM and avoid gatherings at drinking places on Christmas night.

Many people were arrested in the streets of Yei after security personnel from Central Equatoria were deployed and started patrolling joint places.
