Competition among passengers who want to spend Christmas with their relatives has increased in Wau main bus station. This is due to a decreased number of vehicles that transport people to various destinations.
Nationdit manager, Abraham Nyuol, told Radio Voice of Peace, that his agency has lowered the prices in order to keep their clients.
Mr. Nyuol added that good road and security conditions have contributed towards their decision to lessen the fare burden for the travellers during the festive period.
He reported that the movement of passengers has been flowing smoothly throughout this month, adding that the passengers have never been stranded in Wau.
Although some travel agencies have sought out ways to keep hold on their customers, the travellers’ pockets are not fully relieved from paying high travelling costs.
Some passengers complained of high prices which they said have almost doubled compared to last year.
Solo Chol, a traveller at Wau main station, expressed concern over the transport cost which he said increased drastically posing a great challenge to low income earners who want to join their families and friends for the feast.
Mr. Chol called on the authorities to step in and regulate the transport prices.
Other travellers reported that prices in Wau are fair compared to other locations.
Beatrice Cairo is travelling from Wau to Juba and found the ticket less expensive than what she was asked in Kwajok.
