Journalists in Lakes State went through a two-day workshop to learn how to interact with government officials.

Carol Morgan, BBC World Service Trust Country Director, told Good News Radio that the British broadcasting institution is in Rumbek for one week to work with the government officials and the media practitioners to help Lakes State achieve its development goals.

She explained that the training is part of a two-year program funded by the Dutch Government.

Ms. Morgan said there is a common ground between the government and the media because both serve the same people.

She added that journalists and government officials should work hand in hand with trust and set a standard for the way forward.

Ms. Morgan urged the journalists and government officials to work together to pass much needed information to people, including malaria prevention, business ideas and education messages.

She added that people have the right to information.

BBC World Service Trust is runnig a building capacity programme soon after the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed to assist journalists in their mission of spreading information.
