The Governor of Eastern Equatoria expressed gratitude to the Inter-Church Committee for organizing a peace and reconciliation consultative meeting between Acholi and Ma’di community leaders in Torit.

Louis Lobong Lojore praised the inter-Church committee while addressing the congregation at Our Lady of Assumption Parish Church in Torit on Sunday, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He said similar inter-tribal problems are taking place in Greater Kapoeta.

Mr. Lobong said seven people were killed recently in separate incidents in Lauro and Imatong.

The governor asked the Inter-Church committee to keep on with its work and organize prayers for peace to bring the communities together.

Mr. Lobong added that people should be told not to start fighting again after a period of six months of relative calm in the state.
