Nile Commercial Bank Rumbek’s branch has started refunding former clients who had balances in their accounts before the instituion closed down two years ago.

Branch Manager Daniel Mabor Machol told Good News Radio that the bank reopened the Rumbek branch one week ago and is reaching out to former clients with operational accounts to refund them.

Mr. Mabor announced that the Nile Commercial Bank is offering special money transfer services to Uganda.

He explained that the money transfer service benefits traders who want to buy goods from Uganda, those with families in the country, and the sick who want to pay their medical bills.

The bank receives South Sudanese Pounds and transfers the equivalent amount in US dollars to Uganda, beating the lack of hard currency in the region.

KCB, the Kenya Commercial Bank, was enjoying monopoly in Lakes State, handling all banking transactions for the local government institutions, NGOs and other organizations besides those of ordinary citizens.
