Yei residents have been advised to ask their leaders to exercise democracy and promote accountability and transparency.

The program manager for Yei Community Resource Centre, Eric Moses, said people should know what their leaders are doing in order to build a peaceful and a harmonized society, Easter Radio reported.

He added that as citizens of a new nation, they should focus on development which is accompanied by peace, justice and respect of human rights.

Mr. Moses added that every person is a leader and the peace should start at home from the family and extend to the neighbourhood.

He made these statements during a preparatory planning meeting for the International Day of Democracy celebrations.
