Almost 2,300 internally displaced persons (IDPs) arrived in Lainya County from Moje Boma due to an ongoing feud with Wunduruba Payam.

Earlier in the month, civilians and police officers from Wunduruba attacked Moje because residents want to belong to Lainya County while the Wunduruba people prefer to be part of Juba.

Lainya County Press Secretary Bullen Lugalla told Easter Radio over the phone that the county received 2,293 IDPs from Moje.

Mr. Lugalla said that over 2,260 IDP’s settled at Bereka Boma. Over 100 people are in Kukilet and around 40 in Lainya headquarters.

The press secretary mentioned that the county authorities are assessing the situation.

He added that the governor of Central Equatoria Clement Wani Konga sent the deputy director of South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission to see how to settle the IDPs.

IDP Vicky Nyoka said Moje residents moved to Lainya due to no security.

She added that she will not go back until the situation is resolved.
