The Muslim communities in Juba started celebrating yesterday the end of Holy Ramadan in total joy and happiness.
Sheik Hassan Tul Majak told Bakhita Radio that his community was celebrating the end of Ramadan in peace with their Christian brothers and sisters.He praised President Salva Kiir for giving Muslims full freedom in South Sudan.
Sheik Majak refuted the allegation by Sudanese authorities that South Sudan would not accept Muslims.
Sultan Abdallah Yai Diing said Muslims and Christians are one people in the Republic of South Sudan.
Mr. Diing said President Kiir’s assurance of freedom of religion was a statement that was not even once Omar Al Bashir of Sudan issued.
He congratulated President Kiir for the appointment of the first cabinet of the Republic.
The Muslim community celebrated Eid Fitr El Mubarak at Zahara Square in Juba and in other places around the city.
