A five-member USAID high level delegation visited Yei River County to find out how agriculture and economic growth are taking on after the declaration the independence.

Yei Hixson Aloro, private secretary in the office of the commissioner, told Easter Radio that Yei is well known for its agricultural production.

He added that farmers in Yei lack support and roads to access markets which reduce food productivity.

David Gosney, USAID team leader for economic growth, said the delegation went to Yei to review the US assistance in South Sudan to agriculture and see how to support farmers.

Assistant commissioner for agriculture Edimon Taban Gogo revealed that farm projects should improve food production through the distribution of quality seeds to farmers.

He added that farmers lack modern machines to produce more and better food.

He appealed to the government to make agriculture a top priority for the economic growth of South Sudan.
