Works have started at Morobo County headquarters, Central Equatoria State, to lay the first demarked roads in the town.

County press secretary Moses Data told SCR News via e-mail that one third of Morobo residents will be affected by the road works.

He said they are paying the price of negligence because they were given new plots but preferred to cultivate the old places.

Acting County Engineer Mawa John said the area of intervention was planned, surveyed and demarcated.

Engineer David Dik Musa, who is the County’s director of surveyors, said for the first time Morobo County is opening the roads with a proper plan.

The 20-kilometer new roads will cost some 100 thousand South Sudanese pounds and are being done by a Ugandan company.
