A senior official in Lakes State government has called on citizens to conform to the teachings of the Church to attain reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
Daniel Ayuol Makoi is the Deputy Governor of Lakes State and also serves as Minister of Education. He told the faithful during an ordination celebration on Sunday that the Church plays an important in bringing about peace through preaching and reconciliation initiatives.He called on the citizens of Lakes State to conform to the teachings of the Church.
Mr. Ayuol expressed confidence that through the activities of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek, Lakes State will achieve reconciliation and peace.
He thanked Bishop Caesar Mazzolari of Rumbek for his contribution to improve the lives of the local people.
Mr. Ayuol recognized the role of the Catholic Church in reaching out to the needs of the local people in the fields of education and evangelization.
Kongor Deng Kongor, representing Holy Family Cathedral parish Council of Elders, praised the work of the diocese during the war comforting people and providing for their needs.
The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek is through a spiritual program celled “Ten Steps to Unity in South Sudan” to prepare the faithful for the celebration of Independence.
