Thousands of primary and secondary school students from various schools turned up at Sacred Heart Parish in Tonj to celebrate the annual African Child Day.

Entertainment was in surplus as the students executed their individual and group performances including dramas, poems, speeches and dancing competition, Don Bosco FM reported.

A CMM team vaccinated children between the ages of seven and nine.

Health officer John Paul said that most African children suffer from physical, artificial and natural calamities.

He said his NGO felt that since most children were prone to diseases like malaria they were distributing mosquito nets to them.

Karibino Kuanygoy, a student from Don Bosco Secondary School, said children suffer from insecurity and regular conflicts that displace them, violate their rights and bar them from accessing to information.

Mr. Kuanygoy called upon the entire community and its leaders to spearhead the rights of children and protect them from external disruptions.

The student urged all children to obey their teachers, parents and community leaders as they seek their endeavours.
