Eastern Equatoria government has urged Sudanese leaders to accept the United States president’s call for a peaceful resolution of Abyei and South Kordofan conflicts.
Deputy governor Nartisio Manir Loluke reiterated the call for peace on Thursday while welcoming the National Anthem Choir, Emmanuel Radio reported.The deputy governor fully supported the stand of the US President adding that the Sudanese leaders should not take it lightly.
He said time had come for peace to put a full stop to the long suffering of the peoples of the Sudan.
Lucy Iliha Quinto, who chairs the Kai Kai Women Association, said though the US and other members of the international community delayed to intervene in Abyei and South Kordofan but the statement of Barak Obama came on time.
She added the international community should intervene fully if Omar Al-Bashir insists in committing atrocities in Abyei and South Kordofan.
The reactions from Eastern Equatoria leaders followed an appeal by the US president to the leaders of the Sudan to find peaceful means to end the violence in the country or face the consequences of their actions.
