The Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba has called for an inclusive Constitution for the Republic of South Sudan.
The Transitional Constitution is in the hands of the parliamentarians to pass before President Salva Kiir Mayardit endorses and signs it.Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro told the faithful at St. Joseph’s parish on Sunday that the Transitional Constitution should serve for a very short period of time before an inclusive permanent Charter is drafted for the new country.
The archbishop insisted that the permanent Constitution should come from a broad agreement and popular auscultation.
Archbishop Lukudu said the government should listen to the voice of the people instead of imposing the Constitution on them.
The prelate noted that a constitution imposed on the people would not be effective and not bring success into the country.
Archbishop Lukudu called on the people of South Sudan to listen to the Holy Spirit in order to receive peace, forgiveness and love.
