Juba International Air port will be ready to receive night flights in two weeks and the new passengers’ terminal is to be completed by the end of the month.

GoSS Roads and Transport Minister Anthony Lino Makana told SCR News this morning during his tour at the Airport worksite that the runway was already wired with seven kilometres of electric cable.

He said the lights will be installed next.

Mr. Makana explained that much work will be focused on the domestic section in the new terminal to receive 300 guests coming for the Independence celebrations at one go.

The minister added that Juba Airport apron has been extended to park up to 20 big aircraft.

Mr. Makana said the pervious ramp was capable of taking four aircraft at one time.

He added that Ethiopia and the Kenya will be assisting South Sudan with air traffic control and airport marshals from July 9.

Mr. Makana said he cannot confirm when South Sudan would have its own radar system.
