Medical doctors and volunteers are taking to the streets of Italy to promote the rights of African mothers to safe deliveries.
The event, celebrated to mark today’s Africa Day, is organized by the Association of Doctors with Africa √ɬê CUAM √ɬê that among other things runs the hospital in Yirol, Lakes State.From today until Sunday, hundreds of volunteers will gather at dozens of street events to express solidarity and commitment to African mothers during labour.
In Italy, for every hundred thousand children born, 12 mothers die due to different causes. In South Sudan, 2,054 die for the same reasons.
