An SPLM official said his party was tricked and did not participate in the counting of the votes in South Kordofan’s last elections.

SPLM chairman of Polling Stations in South Kordofan Yagoup Osman Kaluka told Voice of Peace Radio that the NCP tricked the SPLM observers during the counting of ballot papers.

He explained that polling officials said they were too tired to count the votes and decided to postpone the exercise.

However, as soon as the SPLM delegates left the officials started the count.

Mr. Kaluka added that in some polling stations voters were forced to vote for NCP.

He congratulated all Nuba Mountains citizens for having participated fully in the elections process.

The SPLM rejected the final results announced earlier by the elections commission saying they were rigged by the NCP.

The situation in South Kordofan state remains tense and locals fear that war may break out.

A source that visited the area recently told SCR News that the preparations for war were too evident.
