EASTERN EQUATORIA POSTPONES SPLA DAY CELEBRATION

The Government of Eastern Equatoria postponed the celebrations to commemorate SPLA’s twenty eighth anniversary to Wednesday.

SPLA Day is celebrated on May 16, the day the struggle for freedom started in Bor, Jonglei State, in 1983, but Eastern Equatoria state has pushed the commemoration to Wednesday.

State minister for Public Service and Human Resource Development, Emilio William Odingila, who chairs the celebration’s organizing committee, told Radio Emmanuel in a telephone interview yesterday evening that the event was postponed due to delays in the arrangements.

The minister explained that the members of the organizing committee were yet to finalize the arrangements late last night after a full day sitting.

Meanwhile, minister Clement Chichim, acting government spokesperson, sent a letter to the citizens of Eastern Equatoria state indicating that the celebration was postponed for Wednesday.
