Disagreement between members of Lopit and Pari communities of Eastern Equatoria over the administration of Lafon-Lopa County are calling for the intervention of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Pari and Lopit communities failed to accept a commissioner from either community and preferred to have two administrators instead, to oversee government activities.

The two communities met on Saturday and decided that the Eastern Equatoria governor should arbitrate the dispute, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Governor Louis Lobong Lojore said the dispute has paralysed the county administration and he would consult with the President to solve the issue.

Mr. Lobong revealed he had a number of issues to discuss with Mr. Kiir including the proposed creation of more counties.

The governor explained that it is needed to double the number of counties from eight to sixteen to serve better the communities in Eastern Equatoria.

Mr. Lobong added that the creation of new counties should not divide the people of the state but bring harmony because co-existence and sharing of resources were critical for the future of the state.
