Yei River County Commissioner urged citizens to cooperate with the government of South Sudan to keep the peace during and after Independence celebrations in order to promote development.

Eliya Wayiwayi appealed to churches, the government and the citizens to pray for a peaceful declaration of independence for development to prevail in the new nation, Easter Radio reported.

The commissioner added that due to power struggle some citizens took up arms to fight against the government.

Mr. Wayiwayi appealed to all Yei River County residents, including people from other places, to keep the peace for the development of the county.

The Commissioner made these remarks at the end of a diaconal ordination yesterday at Christ the King Cathedral in Yei.
