MPs at the Eastern Equatoria assembly decided to have a break after over 40 sittings that passed a few resolutions and many policy statements and reports.

Deputy governor Nartisio Manir Lolukei on Wednesday closed the House and congratulated the legislators while urging them to learn from the recent secessions to face challenges that come ahead, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Mr. Manir said the Parliamentary deliberations over the secessions show the capacity and the will of both the house and government to achieve the millennium development goals.

Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi said the third session deliberated on 12 Policy Statements of the State Ministries including the Fiscal Year Budget, and 15 reports from the counties.

He lamented that three Policy Statements were not presented to the House.

Mr. Ocholimoi says the MPs represent the will of the people and shall foster unity, oversee the Executive and promote the decentralization of governance in the state.

The speaker added that in the coming session MPs should address the burning issues of land and natural resources regulations.
