The governor of Central Equatoria yesterday visited MAFAO livestock and poultry demonstration farm in Radolo.

MAFAO is a joint venture of the state agriculture ministry and UN’s Food and Agricultural Organization to improve the breeding of cattle and hens, Bakhita Radio reported.

The farm hosts 2,000 laying hens and 150 female and male goats.

Animal resources acting director general Soma Francis Wani told journalists that his ministry intends to rehabilitate the MAFAO breeding centre.

Mr. Wani said the initiative should assist local farmers to improve the reproduction of livestock.

Mr. Wani said the programme started with hens and goats and would include cows very soon.

The goats were imported from South Africa, Uganda and Kenya.
