Ten cows were stolen from Tonj South Police Station last night and found some seven kilometres away this morning.

The animals were given as compensation for the people who were killed in the clashes between Thiet and Wuanh-alel communities last month, Don Bosco FM reported.

The police officers that followed the cattle said that they found the animals grazing by themselves.

Police chief inspector Joseph Mayei said some relatives were forced to give the cows for the youths who were accused of murder during the fight and did not have cattle.

He suspected the owners came to the police station to took their cows back.

Mr. Mayei said the police knows the owners of the cows and the investigations will continue.

He added that those involved in the stealing will face justice.

Mr. Mayei noted that security will be tight to keep the cattle safe in the police compound.
