A 13-member strong Eastern Equatoria delegation is travelling to Yambio, Western Equatoria, for a two-day conference on the constitutional process.

Education minister Michael Lopuke Lotyam told Emmanuel Radio yesterday that the team includes members of the council of ministers and parliament together with representatives of civil society, women and youth groups.

He added that the team went to Yambio to discuss post referendum issues and share views and ideas on the new nation.

Mr. Lopuke said the delegations will discuss issues of economy, governance, security and social services to be addressed before South Sudan’s independence.

Agriculture minister Jerome Surur Gama, who heads the team, said the conference is geared towards the constitutional process to put in place a country based on justice, human rights and delivery of services.

The team leader suggested that South Sudan should be under a federal system of governance in order for states to provide adequate services by taking towns to the people.

Mr. Surur added that the team would advocate for equal representation of all the states in the Constitutional Review Committee.
