Representatives from the Christian and Muslim communities should be appointed to the Constitution review committee together with civil society members to make the fundamental law respectful.
This is the position of ECS bishop Paul Busuk who heads the Sudanese Religious Leaders Referendum Initiative.Bishop Busuk told SCR News yesterday in Juba that it was not enough to consult the Churches.
He added that Muslim and Church leaders should be appointed to the Constitution review committee to give authority to the project.
On January 21, GoSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit appointed a 24-strong Technical Committee to Review the Interim Constitution made up of nine members of his government, three heads of commission, two MPs and ten lawyers and judges.
Churches, civil society and opposition parties are urging the government to make it an all-inclusive committee.
