Markets re-opened in Malakal after Thursday and Friday’s clashes between the Joint Integrated Units’ (JIU) northern sections in Malakia area.

JIU soldiers loyal to Gabriel Tanginya disagreed with their comrades with the transport of heavy weapons back to the north after the separation vote of South Sudan, Voice of Love reported.

The clashes shut down all markets and shops in Malakal and kept families indoors for two days but life has come slowly to normal as tension cooled down yesterday.

Tanginya’s soldiers were relocated to Malakal Vocational Training Centre, in the South of the town, under the watch of SPLA forces.

Malakia area is still the scene for heavy movements of armed soldiers.
