Yei River Referendum Taskforce held today a forum with nongovernmental organizations operating in the county.
County commissioner David Lokonga Moses, who chairs the referendum taskforce, told the gathering that the aim of the forum was to mobilize resources from NGOs and any willing individuals to help in the referendum process, Easter Radio reported.Mr. Lokonga said NGOs operating in the county were not forced to contribute to support the referendum, aid was voluntary.
He urged NGOs not to take sides with unionists or separatists and avoid getting involved in political issues.
Mr. Lokonga thanked organizations for their support to the taskforce and their positive turn-up in the forum.
Kevin Beatte who spoke for the NGOs said some organizations had mandates to implement and they faced many challenges to support fully the referendum taskforce.
The forum drew 34 representatives from different NGOs in the county. The forum was prepared by a meeting with NGOs on Friday.
