The only way to remember the fallen heroes and heroines of southern Sudan is the commitment to the referendum process, a MP said.
Peter Bashir Bandy is a member in Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly. He told Bakhita Radio that millions of southerners died in the last civil war.Mr. Bashir explained that southerners need to commit themselves to the registration and voting for separation in the January referendum to honour the fallen heroes.
He added that next generation’s total freedom would be determined by the January referendum for self-determination.
Mr. Bashir revealed that the national government intended to fail the referendum process by not approving the budget for the exercise.
He affirmed that the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly approved a budget for Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau to facilitate the process and secure the exercise of self-determination in the south.
Southern Sudan is less than two months away from the referendum vote.
