GoSS Ministry of Agriculture developed a comprehensive policy framework to improve agricultural practices in the region in order to provide food security.

Different stakeholders including donors, policy consultants and GoSS staff met in Juba today to refine the policy draft to be discussed and approved by the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly.

Makwei Malual, Undersecretary for the ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, told SCR News that the new policy is meant to implement best agriculture practices in South Sudan.

Mr. Malual said technologies that suit traditional and modern farming systems would address the question of food security.

He added that the Agricultural Extension Policy would provide a guide to programmes and activities to be designed and implemented according to priorities.

The draft is expected to be presented to Assembly within two weeks.
