GOSS IDENTIFIES KEY PRIORITY DEVELOPMENT AREAS

GoSS officials identified five key areas to bring about peace, stability and development to the region.

Top GoSS officials, including ministers, policy makers, and development partners, started today in Juba a two-day forum to discuss government priorities to speed up development in the region whatever the referendum outcome.

Executive leadership, rule of law, public administration, fiduciary management and natural resources were poited to be important if peace and stability were to prevail in Southern Sudan.

GoSS minister for Finance, George Athorbei, chaired today’s discussion at Southern Sudan Legislative assembly.

Mr. Athorbei said good governance, through the rule of law and proper management of resources, was key t to deliver services to the people of southern Sudan.

GoSS minister for Parliamentarian Affairs, Michael Makuei Lueth, said that the rule of law determined all what was discussed about development.

Mr. Makuei said that without the law, public order would not be maintained to regulate political, economic and social actions.

Ministers presented their action plans in line with the Vision 2013 Development Goals.
