A Kenyan private bank extended its business in South Sudan opening a new branch in Torit, the capital of Eastern Equatoria.

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Sudan managing Director, John Kimanthi, said the Torit branch inaugurated on Saturday represented the bank’s commitment to support development in Eastern Equatoria state and Southern Sudan at large, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Mr. Kimathi urged citizens to save their earnings with the bank.

He added that KCB would target government employees, urging them to get loans to build houses and set up businesses.

Mr. Kimanthi said KCB provided 255 new jobs since the bank started its operations in 2006.

Eastern Equatoria state minister for Finance, Akulang Abalang, requested KCB to recruit at least ninety percent of its employees for the Torit branch locally in order to employ the youth in the state.
