Yei media houses were urged to cooperate with the security personnel in order to convey the right information to citizens during the referendum exercise.

Yei River County Deputy Executive Director, Scopas Joseph Mogga, said that the problems faced during the past elections should not happen again in the upcoming referendum.

Mr. Mogga made this statement during the opening of a two-day meeting for journalists and security personnel.

SPLA Brigadier General Malaak Ayuen said the meeting was meant to build up knowledge between journalists and security personnel.

Mawa Dickson, program officer for Community Education Action Programme, added that the meeting would enable journalists to operate in a free and fair environment and enable security personnel to understand the role of journalists.

The meeting that started today is attended by 37 people, including government officials from different counties, NGO representatives and journalists from various media houses.
