EASTERN EQUATORIA OFFICIAL CALLS FOR FAVORABLE POLICIES TO IMPROVE AGRICULTURE

The acting minister of Agriculture in Eastern Equatoria called for good policies to improve production in the region.

Michael Lopuke Lotyam made the comment during a consultative workshop on agricultural extension policy formulation over the weekend in Torit town, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He emphasized the introduction of modern agricultural tools to be used in production of food for both subsistence and commercial purposes.

Mr. Lopuke added that due to two decades of civil unrest in Southern Sudan, the region has become dependent on food produced in other countries.

He noted that the quality and type of the imported food does not match with the traditional needs of the people.

The minister stresses on the skills and human resources development and consideration of the climatic conditions when making agricultural policies for Southern Sudan.
