The leader of the United Democratic Front (UDF), a southern party that calls for the independence of the region, slammed the UN Secretary General over his call for Sudan’s Unity.

Ban Ki-moon Saturday pledged to work hard to avoid the independence of south Sudan in the 2011 referendum.

Abdel Peter Sule told SCR News that he differs from the UN chief’s statement on Sudan’s unity due to the problems faced by southerners concerning human rights, and religious and economical issues.

He added Mr. Ban does not live in Southern Sudan and he cannot understand the suffering of its peoples.

Mr. Sule said the UDF remains committed to an independent southern Sudan.

He added that are the Southern Sudanese who have to find a solution for all the ills in the Sudan.

Mr. Sule said the UN is a neutral body meant to protect and see the full implementation of the CPA other than involving itself in the politics of the country.
