Tombura-Yambio Diocesan Synod calls for discussion on Church future

The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio started a three-day first Diocesan Preliminary Synod discussion under the theme: ‘We are the family of God, a participatory servant church’.

Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala says any decision taken during the synod is beneficial to the universal Church.

The Catholic prelate urges the participants from the 27 parishes to consistently pray for strength and inspiration from the Lord.

He encourages the faithful to build relationship with God to succeed in their synod.

Tombura-Yambio Pastoral Coordinator, Fr Diko Raphael mentions bad roads and constant rainfall in the region, making it difficult to transport participants from their various locations to attend the synod.

He recalls that Bishop Hiiboro Kussala organized the first Synod on September 18, 2017.

He adds that the Bishop’s aim was to listen to the participants on how they expect the diocese to move in all aspects.

Synod is an ecclesiastic council or meeting which aims to consult on Church matters and find possible ways on how it should move according to the doctrines.

The Synod brought three representatives from each of the 27 parishes in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio to Nzara Palica Centre.
