Catholic Bishop of Tombura-Yambio Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala with religious leaders last week visited Tombura to help stop instances of inter-communal violence in the region.
He explained that their initiative was “to take a message of love and reconciliation that touches hearts of the people.
Bishop Hiiboro noted that the initiative was an opportunity to express closeness and compassion to the people who have suffered as a result of the violence.
He said “it was a mission of God. The message of love and reconciliation has done a lot of good to those who listened to it.
The Catholic prelate noted difficulties the Church faces in trying to respond to people’s needs including lack of resources to help the conflict affected people.
The Bishop said his attempts to ask for support from international organizations have not been very successful, as many are directing resources to fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
