Secretary-general of defunct Gbudue State Wilson Thomas Yanga has denied rumours circulating in the area that the Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA was coming to Yambio.
He told CRN that his office got information two weeks ago that LRA was coming from the side of Sakure County.
Thomas explained that when the government sent its forces to the area, they found out that it was just rumours flowing.
Yanga said the suspected LRA could be seen at the side of Congo.
The official explained that the LRA was seen in Congo, without explaining how far it is from South Sudan border.
He called on the people of Yambio to stay calm and continue with their normal duties.
The LRA is an opposition group and heterodox Christian group which operate in northern Uganda, South Sudan, Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
