CENTRAL EQUATORIA GIVES FOOD TO GREATER KAPOETA

The Government of Central Equatoria sent food aid to the people of Greater Kapoeta in Eastern Equatoria who were stricken by hunger after their crops failed.

Central Equatoria Social Welfare minister Mary Apai said her Government was concerned about the hunger outbreak in Greater Kapoeta, Bakhita Radio reported.

She added that Central Equatoria stands with the people and Government of Eastern Equatoria state to alleviate the hunger in Greater Kapoeta.

Kapoeta South County Commissioner Martin Ngoya thanked the Government and people of Central Equatoria for their support to the people of Greater Kapoeta.

He said a disease known cold warm and irregular rain were responsible for crop failure in Greater Kapoeta and the situation could repeat if farmers did not rotate fields.

Eastern Equatoria Social Development Minister Patrick Lodinga appreciated the gesture and solidarity of the people and Government of Central Equatoria to the people and Government of Eastern Equatoria.

He said it was important for sister states to support each other in time of need.

Chiefs and locals confirmed to Bakhita Radio that people died and were still dying of hunger in Greater Kapoeta.

They said it was important to receive food aid and seeds in order to prepare for the next cultivation season well.
