The new Archbishop of Canterbury is a leader for our times and will bring unity to the Anglican Communion marred with same sex marriage rifts.
This is the view the head of ECS, the Episcopal Church of Sudan, Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul shared with CRN upon his arrival from England on Wednesday morning.Archbishop Deng attended the enthronement of Justin Welby as Archbishop of Canterbury, head of Church of England, and spiritual leader of 77 million Anglicans, last Thursday.
He said Archbishop Welby is an evangelical and made clear that marriage is between a man and a woman Ð a statement that pleased the 28 primates who went to Canterbury on Thursday to enthrone him.
Archbishop Deng said Archbishop Welby had South Sudan at heart, and was following the establishment of the new nation and the issues that affect people.
The ECS leader noted that God is making changes by choosing new leaders for the Anglican and Catholic communions during March.
He asked for prayers in order for both leaders to guide their Churches in the right direction.
Archbishop Deng said he invited the head of the Anglican Communion to come to South Sudan and expectes Archbishop Welby to visit the country soon.
