The first South Sudanese to be ordained into priesthood in the Coptic Orthodox Church urged the youth of South Sudan to build the nation without tribalism and unite their visions and goals to realize prosperity.

Fr Joseph John Ashounj expressed his happiness to be the first South Sudanese priest in the Coptic Church, saying that it was a big responsibility.

He explained that youth should live their lives wisely as said in the Gospel of Mark: “Remember your Lord the Creator in your youthful days”.

Fr Ashounj added that youth are the backbone in any constructive process especially in the fight against tribalism and illiteracy, explaining that it can happen only through action and not words.

He added that youth should have a bigger responsibility in the reconstruction of communities after they have been invaded and violated by unlawful marriages.

Fr Ashounj called on the youth to bring their families to church for blessings.

He urged his fellow youth to respect all stages of life and depend on education in order to prepare themselves to lead the nation.
