Juba City Council on Monday urged the state to organised land transport in Juba and make sure vehicles are parked in dedicated places.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer Taban Charles Michael said the organisation of land transport in Juba falls under the authority of state Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Bakhita Radio reported.He said the organisation will be done in collaboration with corporate bodies including Juba City Council.
Mr Charles said the Drivers Union and the commission agents were suspended by a state decree because they were overstepping their mandates.
The state ministry of Physical Infrastructure and the Revenue Authority were mandate to organised land transport.
He added that the ministry had to make sure all vehicles were kept in the parks and not left at their drivers’ initiative around Customs obstructing traffic flow on the streets.
Mr Charles said preparations are underway to make sure vehicles are parked in an organised manner in marked places.
