The Comboni Missionaries officially handed Comboni Comprehensive College-Lomin in Kajo Keji County of Central Equatoria to the administration of the Catholic diocese of Yei.

The ceremony attended by Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe and Comboni Provincial Superior Daniel Moschetti took place on Wednesday at the college premises.

Diocesan education coordinator Alex Lodiong Sakor told Radio Easter over the phone that the college was built by the Comboni Missionaries stationed in Kajo Keji County, diocese of Yei.

Fr Lodiong said the people expressed happiness towards the handover of the college despite some doubts about its future under the diocesan administration.

He added that with the handover the Missionaries trusted the capacity of the local people to administer the college.

Fr Lodiong said the college had no principal, but a deputy who was acting for one year.

He explained that the diocese was tasked with the responsibility of appointing a new principal among the teachers who were eligible.

He said the Board of Governors Chairperson would act as the principal of the college until a suitable candidate was appointed.

Comboni Comprehensive College was established in 2000 with boarding facilities for over 400 boys and girls.

It followed the Ugandan syllabus but it is switching to the South Sudan secondary schools programme.
