Good News Radio was praised by listeners and institutions of learning for its constant programs on education, especially of girls.

The Rumbek based Catholic radio celebrated its third year of broadcast on Thursday.

Praises arrived from different quarters for its active role in sensitizing its audience on literacy, peace and reconciliation, alcoholism, better cultural practices, HIV AIDS awareness and other issues.

Claire Ayok Deng, a senior three student at Loreto Girls Secondary School, testified that Good News Radio girl child education programs encouraged her to continue studies up to university before getting married.

Mary Nyandur Machar, also a senior three student, said she appreciated programs on culture and alcohol abuse.

On Wednesday, listeners voted the program “Women and girls wake up and go to school” as the top show helpful to the community.

Veronica Ajok Angok presents the program in the evenings.

Most listeners who phoned to vote said the program had an appealing message to the illiterate and marginalized women of Lakes State to embrace education.

Good News Radio broadcasts in Dinka and English and covers all eight counties of Lakes State.

The station belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek and is part of CRN, the Catholic Radio Network.
