An MP said on Tuesday that giving the Constitutional Review Commission more time to do its work allowed wider consultations across the country to involve citizens in the process.

Justice and Constitutional Committee Chairperson Dengtiel Ayuen Kuur told CRN that the parliament gave two years for the commission to ensure enough time for wide consultations across the country.

Mr Ayuen said the Constitutional Review Commission’s work was delayed due to lack of funds.

He added that he hoped that the Government would keep the promise to release the money for the commission to do its work.

Mr Ayuen commented that the government said funding the commission was a priority.

He added that the Government should follow it up by immediately releasing the money for the constitution commission to start its work.
