The State Government of Western Bahr El Ghazal announced the dismissal of more than 250 former candidates in the 2010 elections from the civil service.

Acting Minister of Finance Zachariah Joseph Garang on Tuesday explained that the State Government was implementing a 2011 decree from President Salva dismissing from the civil service all candidates who run for 2010 elections, Voice of Hope reported.

He added that his Ministry had screened the targeted candidates and their names will be revealed in details.

The Minister explained that the Education is most affected Ministry.

Mr Joseph said the process took a long time to implement.

He explained that the candidates were reporting to work demanding their salaries, but he said this need can be expressed in a more peaceful way.

The State Ministry of Public Service last December disclosed a list of 85 candidates to be excluded from the civil service.

The move is part of the austerity measures as the state government is looking for more resources to close the financial gap made by oil shutdown one year ago.
