Christian and Muslim religious leaders in Western Bahr El Ghazal on Friday met the state government to find better ways of resolving the Wau crisis through dialogue.
The team was co chaired by the Catholic Bishop of Wau Diocese, Rudolf Deng Majak, and Sheikh Ali Hassan Ali.The meeting was aimed at finding the root causes of the problem and how to heal the wounds and the already created damages and loses.
Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan briefed the delegation on the losses of the weekend protest.
Bishop Deng said they have agreed to form a committee that will first consult both the community and the government on the problem and how to address it peacefully.
Sheik Ali Hassan Ali called on the community and the government to be calm and engage in constructive dialogue that can pave a way for a better development through dialogue.
He added that the committee would act as a link between the community and the government.
The government welcomed religious leaders’ initiative and pledged to accept peaceful means.
