The United Nation and its agencies are planning to come up with plan of action that protects journalists operation in five countries of Iraq, Nepal, Mexico, Pakistan and South Sudan.

United nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Communication officer Liam McDowall told the press in Juba that the UN agencies had come together with plan of action that protect the freedom of expression and the work of journalists.

He said in few month time UNESCO will consult all the media outlets in South Sudan and find a way forward for journalists safety.

Mr McDowall said the plan of action will look at the way journalists are arrested and detained.

He added that this can work well if groups of layers who specialized in media laws can support the action plan.

Mr McDowall said the goal of this action plan is to ensure freedom of expression and avoid censorship.

South Sudan journalists are still facing numerous challenges as they operate without media laws.
