The United Nations’ Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Help Age International are calling on South Sudanese to nominate 60 inspiring older people in the community.
The call came as part of the new 60 over 60 lists to celebrate the growing numbers of older people in South Sudan and around the World.A document obtained by Bakhita radio indicates that 60 over 60 is a unique list of 60 pioneers over the age of 60 who are great achievers, influencers who have inspired many with their outstanding achievements.
The nominees can be from any work of life including older people in the community who make differences by volunteering or acting as careers.
Help Age Chief Executive Officer, Richard Blewitt said, older people make unrecognized and huge contributions to their families and wider societies.
He added that contribution made by older people will become increasingly important as the global population over the age of 60 increases rapidly.
60 over 60 aims to capture the unique contribution older people make to societies in various ways.
Over 810 million people are over 60 years old, nearly an eight of the global population across the World.
