TORIT HOSTS NATIONAL WORLD AIDS DAY CELEBRATION

Eastern Equatoria State on Saturday hosted the national celebration for World AIDS day in South Sudan under the theme “Getting to Zero New HIV infection and zero Discrimination, take the lead in the fight against HIV/AIDS”.

The occasion started by parade at SPLA office under the auspices of the South Sudan HIV/AIDS Commission (SSAC) and Eastern Equatoria State Ministry of Health.

The event is also to celebrate the progress achieved since the independence of the Republic of South Sudan while calling for continuous efforts to improve health service delivery and quality of life to people living with HIV throughout South Sudan.

The celebration of the World AIDS day in South Sudan started two weeks ago with a range of activities including voluntary counseling and testing services, radio talk-shows, Radio spots, HIV/AIDS awareness through songs and other activities.

The World AIDS Day is to remember the dead, people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS as well as to prevent spread of the virus.
